Brass Compression Cap is a terminal closure accessory in the brass compression series fittings, mainly used to seal the end of pipelines, prevent fluid leakage, contamination from entering, or system pressure loss. It achieves sealing through the principle of compression, without the need for welding or adhesive, and is suitable for scenarios that require temporary or permanent closure of pipelines.

Structure and Material

 

Texture of material:

The main material is brass, which has corrosion resistance, ductility, and mechanical strength.

Some high-end models may be treated with nickel or chromium plating to enhance oxidation resistance.

Structural design:

Integrated end cap: Made of brass casting or machined, with a compression chamber and sealing surface designed inside.

Compression component: includes a built-in compression collar (Ferrule) or sealing ring integrated with the end cap body.

External thread or internal thread: Some models use threads and compression nuts to adapt to different pipe outer diameters.

 

Working principle

 

Sealing mechanism:

Insert the pipeline into the end cap and tighten the compression nut.

The nut compresses the built-in ring (or sealing ring) to radially deform and tightly wrap around the outer wall of the pipeline.

The deformed collar forms a metal seal with the inner wall of the end cap, while fixing the pipeline through friction.

Pressure resistance: The maximum pressure resistance is 400 psi (depending on size and design), suitable for normal to medium high temperature environments (-20 ℃ to 120 ℃).

 

Installation steps and precautions

Installation process:

Cutting and Cleaning: Vertically cut the pipeline, remove burrs, and clean the outer wall.
Pre installed components: Install the compression nut and collar (such as a split design) onto the pipeline.
Insert end cap: The pipe is fully inserted into the inside of the end cap, ensuring it is against the bottom limit.
Tighten the nut: Use a wrench to tighten it step by step according to the torque requirements, avoiding excessive compression.

Matters needing attention:

Do not tighten too tightly: Over tightening may cause cracking of the collar or deformation of the pipeline.
Compatibility check: Ensure that the end cap material is compatible with the fluid.
Single use warning: The one-piece design collar needs to be replaced with a new one after disassembly.
