The Elbow from the D.O.T AIR BRAKE-NYLON TUBING Fittings line is a brass steering coupling designed for commercial vehicle air brake systems and pneumatic lines to change line direction, optimize space and maintain air tightness. It is unique in that it combines high strength brass, D.O.T. certified reliability and a compact elbow design for complex applications.

 

The D.O.T AIR BRAKE-NYLON TUBING Fittings Elbow is used in a wide range of applications in commercial vehicles, construction machinery and other pneumatic systems.

 

1. Commercial Vehicle Air Brake System

Applied to truck chassis brake line steering where the frame longitudinal beam crosses the cross member. The 90°Elbow connects the nylon brake hose to the metal brake valve outlet.

Function:

Avoids direct vertical bending of nylon tubing (which is prone to stress cracking), and smooths the steering through the elbow and around the frame cross member. The threaded end screws directly into the brake valve, eliminating the need for additional adapters and reducing leakage points.

Installation Points:

(1) The angle of the elbow should be matched with the frame clearance to ensure that the distance between the nylon tube and the frame is ≥10mm to prevent friction and wear.

(2) Use a constant torque wrench to tighten the threaded end.

 

2. Pneumatic control system for construction machinery

Applied to excavator boom joint air line, near the point of articulation of the movable arm to the bucket bar. Use a 90°rotatable Elbow with nylon tube inserts at both ends to allow 360° rotation of the joint body.

Function:

Automatically adjusts line routing as the boom telescopes and rotates, reducing nylon tube twisting fatigue.

Elbow wall polishing reduces airflow noise and improves hydraulic valve response.

Installation Points:

(1) The elbow should be manually rotated and tested after installation to ensure that there is no sticking.

(2) The exposed part of the nylon tube is covered with abrasion-resistant braided sheath to prevent friction with the metal structure.
