Description
Brass Union in the compression fittings series is a key fitting used to connect two sections of pipes and allow repeated disassembly. Its core function is to achieve rapid assembly, repair or replacement of pipelines without damaging the pipelines. It is widely used in water, gas, oil and other fluid systems.
Core features: Differences from other connection methods
Compared with welding joints, ferrule direct connection or threaded straight-through, the uniqueness of Brass Union is reflected in the following aspects:
1. No destructive operation is required. Welded joints require high-temperature welding and the pipe needs to be cut when disassembled. Brass Union is disassembled through nuts, and the pipe and joint can be reused, greatly reducing maintenance costs.
2. Compensation for installation errors. If there is a slight coaxial deviation (≤2°) between the two sections of the pipe, the sealing surface fitting design of the Union can automatically compensate to avoid stress concentration caused by hard connection (threaded straight-through requires extremely high installation accuracy, and deviations can easily lead to leakage).
3. Double sealing guarantee. In addition to the close fit of the metal sealing surface, some models of sealing rings can withstand different media (such as hot water, weak acid), forming a "metal + rubber" double seal, which is more reliable than the sealing of a simple threaded connection.
4. Temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. Brass material can withstand -20℃ to 120℃, suitable for hot water systems and hot oil pipelines. Its corrosion resistance to water, air, and neutral liquids is better than that of iron joints, and it does not have the low-temperature embrittlement or high-temperature deformation problems of plastic joints.
Typical application scenarios
The design of Brass Union makes it irreplaceable in scenarios that require "convenient maintenance". The main applications include:
1. Home plumbing system, used for connecting the inlet and outlet pipes of water heaters and wall-mounted boilers. When the equipment fails, it can be quickly disassembled through the joint without damaging the wall or pipe.
2. Industrial equipment pipelines, connecting pumps, valves and pipelines in hydraulic systems and cooling systems, convenient for separating pipelines during regular equipment maintenance.
3. Gas and compressed air systems, Brass Unions are usually installed at both ends of the meter and pressure reducing valve of the gas pipeline to facilitate meter checking or replacement of accessories; in compressed air pipelines, joints can avoid loosening of threads due to vibration.
4. Hot water and heating systems, the temperature resistance of brass (-20℃ to 120℃) makes it suitable for the connection of radiators and floor heating pipes, and can withstand the stress caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
