Male On Both Ends Solid Bottom Fuel Valve
The origin of the Male Pipe x Flare Solid Bottom Fuel Valve is closely related to the high pressure of the fuel system, the upgrade of sealing technology, and the need for multi interface adaptation. Its design combines the versatility of external thread (NPT) with the high-pressure sealing advantage of flare, making it a key component of the fuel system.
Driven by technical requirements
High pressure of fuel system
In the mid-20th century, the popularization of diesel engines and fuel injection technology required fuel pipelines to withstand higher pressures (200-1500 PSI), and traditional threaded tape seals were prone to failure, leading to a demand for metal to metal seals.
The 45°or 37°conical compression design (SAE/JIC standard) with Flare connection has become the preferred solution for high-pressure sealing.
Interface diversity adaptation
The fuel system needs to be connected to both hard pipes (copper/aluminum) and threaded equipment (pumps/filters) simultaneously. The male pipe end can be directly screwed into the female pipe port, and the expanded end can be adapted to the hard pipe, simplifying the pipeline layout.
Industrial standardization process
1. Development of expansion joint standards
SAE J512 (1940s) standardized the size and angle of expansion joints to ensure compatibility between components from different manufacturers.
The introduction of ISO 8434-2 (1980s) international standard promoted the adoption of a unified flared design for fuel systems worldwide.
2. Integration of thread standards
The popularization of American standard NPT (National Pipe Coated) and British standard BSP (British Standard Pipe) has made the external threaded end adaptable to equipment from multiple countries, improving the versatility of valves.
Design Evolution Milestones
1. The expansion joint technology was introduced into the automotive industry from aviation hydraulic systems and was used for early diesel fuel pipes.
2. Brass material is widely used to replace cast iron valves and solve the problem of fuel corrosion.
3. Solid Bottom design is added, and the valve has both connection and shut-off functions, reducing the number of system components.
4. The application of nickel plated valve body and fluororubber (FKM) O-ring is suitable for chemical corrosion of biodiesel and ethanol fuel.
