Installation steps and precautions
1. Standard installation process
Pre-treat the hose to ensure that the inner diameter of the hose matches the outer diameter of the connector barb (usually with a strict tolerance range, such as ±0.5mm), cut the hose end surface flat, and remove the burrs.
Fix the hose clamp (key step), install the pipe cla
mp (such as a hose clamp, clamp) on the outside of the hose near the barb, and tighten it to the appropriate torque (usually refer to the manufacturer's recommendations to avoid over-tightening and causing the hose to rupture).
Threaded connection and sealing, wrap the raw tape around the threaded end (3-5 turns clockwise) or apply sealant, screw into the corresponding pipe fitting, and tighten it according to the standard torque to avoid excessive tightening and causing thread slippage.
Pressure test, after the connection is completed, perform a pressure test on the system (such as air pressure or water pressure test) to check whether the barb connection and thread end are leaking.
2. Precautions
Avoid overpressure operation. The pressure range of brass joints is usually 0-10MPa. Exceeding the rated pressure may cause the barb to deform or the thread to rupture.
Media compatibility: Brass has limited corrosion resistance to strong acid and alkali media. If corrosive liquids (such as concentrated hydrochloric acid) are to be transmitted, special coatings (such as nickel coating) or stainless steel materials must be used.
Temperature range: The applicable temperature of brass connectors is generally - 20℃ to + 120℃. In high-temperature environments, the temperature resistance of the hose material must be confirmed (such as silicone rubber hoses that can withstand higher temperatures).
Advantages and limitations
1. Core advantages
Easy to connect, no welding or complex tools are required, installation can be completed by plugging and unplugging and fixing with pipe clamps, suitable for quick on-site maintenance.
Reliable sealing, the combination of barbs + pipe clamps can effectively prevent medium leakage, and with the threaded sealing design, it is suitable for medium and high pressure systems.
Strong compatibility, suitable for a variety of hose materials (rubber, plastic, silicone, etc.), and brass material has good corrosion resistance to common media (water, oil, air).
Cost economy, compared with stainless steel or plastic joints, brass material is moderately priced and cost-effective.
2. Limitations
Repeated use restrictions, the inner wall of the hose may be worn after multiple disassembly, resulting in reduced sealing performance. It is recommended to replace the hose regularly.
High temperature/strong corrosion scenario restrictions, brass is easily oxidized or corroded in high temperature (>120℃) or strong acid and alkali environment, and special materials (such as 316 stainless steel) need to be selected instead.
Installation force requirements, the hose is easy to leak if inserted too loosely, and the hose may be damaged if it is too tight, and it must be operated strictly according to the specifications.
