Brass Nut

During the installation process of the compression joint, the role of the brass nut can be summarized as "force transmission and sealing locking":
When the nut is tightened with a wrench, the nut moves toward the joint body through the thread, and its closed end (or step) squeezes the ferrule on the outside of the pipe, forcing the ferrule to undergo plastic deformation and fit tightly to the conical sealing surface of the pipe outer wall and the joint body;
Finally, the continuous pressure of the nut "locks" the ferrule, pipe, and joint body, forming a metal-metal sealing structure to prevent the leakage of the medium (liquid or gas) in the pipeline.

Brass nuts are made of brass alloy (common grades such as C36000, C37700, copper content 60%-70%, zinc content 30%-40%, and lead is added to improve cutting performance). Its material characteristics directly determine the applicability of the nut:
Good mechanical strength and toughness: Brass has moderate tensile strength (300-400MPa) and elongation (≥15%), which can withstand torque during tightening (avoid breakage) and maintain shape stability under long-term stress (prevent loosening).
Excellent corrosion resistance: Brass has good corrosion resistance to water, air, weak acids and alkalis (such as trace impurities in tap water and gas), and is especially suitable for humid or slightly corrosive environments (such as plumbing systems and outdoor pipelines), which is better than iron nuts (easy to rust).
Excellent machinability: Brass has low hardness (HB 60-90), and is easy to process into high-precision threads and smooth surfaces, ensuring close fit with the threads of the connector body and reducing the risk of leakage caused by thread gaps.
Certain thermal conductivity and temperature adaptability: Within the normal temperature range of -20℃~120℃, the physical properties of brass are stable, and there will be no significant thermal expansion and contraction due to temperature changes, resulting in sealing failure (special brass grades are required for high-temperature scenarios).
